The Last One! :-O

The final days of seventh grade are upon us! Summer is within reach and 8th grade is just around the corner. Before you know it, you'll be heading up the the high school! WAIT--before you move on and leave me :(..... lets reminisce about ELA!

1. What was something you learned this year or something you feel you've improved upon?

2. Most of you wandered into school last September not knowing what to expect from your new teachers. Over these past few months you have grown immensely. How have you changed since that first day? (More confidence? More responsible? Different friends? etc.)

3.
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.

Which direction do you choose? Flash forward ten years from now, where do you see yourself? Did you graduate college? Do you have a job? What are your aspirations?

Please post your comment as a response to this post. Your post is due Monday, June 17th at 5pm.

  1. I feel like I've approved on writing. Because before I hated writing, but now after I've been in Ms.Domohowskis class. She helped me write better by to use supporting details. I changed because I became more confident into my class work and homework. I would chose a good direction to go in because if I went in a negative direction I wouldn't be in a good place or anything. I see my self graduating college. After I graduate I'm probably gonna have a job teaching at a elementary school.

  2. 1. Something that I think I really improved upon this year was writing my open responses. Before this year, I never really understood how I was suppose to set it up or how many details were suppose to be in it. Though now I know exactly how many details, quotes and explanations I need, without any extra wording. I also got a lot better with my organization and planning, because I had to keep all of my stuff in its spots just in case I needed it to study. Also I had to make sure that I finished my blog post by the end of the week, without forgetting it. These are some things I really improved on this year.
    2. Since last September I think I changed a lot. First, I grew a lot more confident in presenting things. I remember at the beginning of the year my face would always get bright red and my heart would beat a million miles an hour when I was in front of the class, but now it doesn't faze me at all. Also I've learned to voice my opinion instead of just doing what everyone else wants. I learned that if I wasn't really ok with something I shouldn't just ignore it, I should purpose a different option. These are some reasons why I think I changed since September.
    3. If I were to flash forward ten years from now, I think I would be graduated from college with a major in nursing and a minor in baking. I would live in Redondo Beach, California with my aunt in a house by the water. I would travel to Sicily, Portugal and many other places for half of the year to learn about my family’s heritage. Also I would come visit Gloucester for a month to visit my family and friends. My goal would be to give to the many families who are struggling and help them financially, with school, meals, and other necessities. This is what I would picture myself doing 10 years from now.

  3. 1). Something I learned this year is to write poetry better and the drawings for poetry. I think It helped me become a better writer for the Mcas. Before 7 grade i could never do that good writing poetry for Mcas.
2). I have changed a lot from the first day I got better in school. all the teachers helped me when i needed it but then i did it by myself that's how I changed from the first day of school.
3). In 10 years from now I think if i got smarter i could try to be a doctor and I think I'm gonna married and have children.

  4. I learned a lot this school year. Something I learned this year in ELA is how to write open responces. Before this school year I thought you would just restate the question and write what you think. But Ms. Domohowski taught me the right way. First you write 3 column notes with 3 details, quotes and explanations. Then when your all done you write your final onto a different sheet of paper and use your notes from your 3 column notes. That is the right way to how you write an open response. I think I improved on being more prepared and more mature. I carry all my stuff around now in every class so I know I have everything I need for that class. I feel more mature now because I don’t talk as much and I listen and pay attention to the teachers that are speaking.
The first day of school I was confused and very nervous. I didn’t know any of the teachers. But I’ve changed throughout the year. I’m more confident toward the teachers now. I also have more friends than last year and some are different friends too. I think I have gotten more responsible through the year with like my school stuff, my homework and classwork, and being in class and listening more. I have grown in many ways from the first day of school.
What I want to do 10 years from now is go to college for my dancing career. I want to be a dance teacher and teach many people how to dance. It’s an inspiration to them. My friend Sam and Erin also want to help me with my studio because they dance with me now and want to make a studio as well. My friend Sam will probably help teach hip-hop and lyrical. My friend Erin will probably help teach contemporary, modern and ballet. I will help them as well but also teach jazz, tap, and acro. I love to dance, I dance everyday of my life. This is what I want to do 10 years from now!!

  5. 1).This year I was taught many news way to help me in both school and the real world. One of the things I learned was "criss cross topic cirlce substitue". Also I have learnedmostly about oral traditions.
2)I have changed alot over the course of seventh grade since the first day of it. I have learned to communicate better with others and proper english.I have also gotten neater, and more responsible.
3)In ten years I see myslef finishing college and getting myself a good job. I would have a house in a tropical area with warm summer days everyday. I would be travelingthe world.

  6. This year, in seventh grade, I feel that I have improved upon reading and writing. I have been reading more fluently since I have started seventh grade. We have read poetry, myths, fables, legends and "EPICS !!!!!!!!" They all helped me with my reading and my writing.

I have also become more confident in seventh grade about presenting and reading in front of the class. This year we have done a lot of that. By the time seventh grade was over we all had to present in front of the class, our poetry books and music videos. That has made me feel good about myself and my abilities.

Where I see myself in ten years is in the Air Force flying airplanes. My math skills will immensely help me get into the Air Force to fly airplanes.

My ELA teacher Ms Domohouski has helped me reach my goals.

  7. 1. Something I improved upon this year was writing open responses and time managing. When I first came to school I had no idea how to make three column notes to organize my writing. The blog posts help us with our time managing. I really improved on that. The first few blog posts I forgot, and for a while I was not doing good with my blog posts. Now I know how to plan ahead to get projects in on time.
    2. I changed a lot since the beginning of this school year. I am now way more confident with reading in front of the class. My writing has also improved.
    3. In 10 years from now I picture myself just out of college. I would probably still be living in Gloucester. But once I got married I would want to move out of Gloucester to either Maine, Florida, or somewhere away from here. I would try to do many fun things like bungee jumping and be a thrill seeker until I had kids. Then I would stop. If Fear factor still existed I would go on that, or maybe whip out. I would try to have as much fun as I could while I was still young.

  8. Over these past 10 months, I have learned more things than I've learned in the past 3 years put together!! This has honestly been one of the greatest years of my life. However, most of my accomplishments have been academically. I’ve learned many new techniques such as different ways to take notes, how to answer open response with confidence, and new ways of problem solving. I’ve also learned how to use time management with all of my homework assignments and projects. For example, in our most recent english project we had to create a story book. There were many requirements for it, but we had a sheet that helped us with time management by giving us a different requirement to do each day and we finished the project with ease. Overall, I think that I’ve used fairly good time management over the year. At the beginning of the year, I really didn’t know what to expect as far as how much I would learn and how well I would remember it, but I know that there will always be a part of me in the back of my mind that will recall a great amount of knowledge from my 7th grade year.

Throughout the school year, I have changed greatly both academically and socially. Last year was very hard for me because I did not have many friends and no one really seemed to want to get to know me. Not one single person in my last years homeroom was from my elementary school, and since we traveled with our homerooms for all classes, I didn’t get to see any of my friends, so I was very lonely. Despite not knowing many people the year before, this year I’ve made so many new friends and made even tighter bonds with the friends that I already had. Also, this year they had the classes mix and be spread around so we got to mingle with new people. This has helped me gain my confidence with being around new people and learn new social skills that I didn’t learn the year before as well as make new relationships. I also gained more confidence with presenting, unlike last year. And like everything in life, there were people that I didn’t particularly enjoy being around, but I did my best to look past them and enjoy my year. Although I’ve had a great year socially, I have also had a great year academically. I made the high honor roll all four terms which was a goal of mine at the beginning of the year. Also, at the beginning of the year, I came in second place for the Peace Essay contest, was awarded student of the week, came in first place for the running event in the first 7th grade Olympics, and most recently was a semifinalist in the Letters About Literature writing contest. This has been an amazing year in more ways than one, and I’ve gained great confidence in myself and more responsibility for who I am and what I do.

Ten years from now, I see myself graduating college with my masters degree in teaching. I would be teaching kids just like me, eager to let them know what I know, and help them understand the wonders the world has to offer. I would enjoy teaching kids in a range of 4th grade to 8th grade. I would have a successful job, be married and have kids of my own. Another profession that I would choose if I had the opportunity, would be an actor. I’ve always want to see myself up on a movie screen and feel what it would be like on a set. If I was an actor, I would still have a wife and kids and live a normal, happy life. And I know that if I try hard and do my best, I can achieve these goals, I just have to keep moving forward and never give up on my dreams.

  9. Last Blog Post

We are counting down the days to the last day of seventh grade. It feels like just yesterday we were all so young, so scared, but super exited on our first day on the top floor. I (myself) have learned so much and improved on so many thing this year. One thing I have improved upon is my writing. I would always write as if it were a response to a conversation with someone, and not so formal. All of my teachers have helped me with my writing (some more than others), but they all deserve credit. Another thing I have improved on immensely is time management. I was one of those kids who would ALWAYS leave things to the last minute. It was a very bad habit and I wanted to improve on it. This year, I am more aware of time management than I was before. For instance, our Oral Tradition project was to make a storybook. I knew the time and days I had to finish it, and my project turned out to be a success! Although, I still have those “leave it to the last minute moments”, but I know my time management is better this year.

This whole year has been a roller coaster for me. I’ve changed so much and I’ve matured so much. I’ve met new friends, and have stayed close with old friends. On that first day of school, I didn’t really know anybody in my homeroom, and that was hard. I always had trouble making new friends but I knew I had to try. Now, I am friends with most everyone in my homeroom, as well as in my core classes. And that’s a good feeling. I think I have matured so much this year. Last year, I think I was pretty annoying at times. I think I have grown-up a lot this year. That has made me new friends, and has helped me be the person I am today.

Ten years from now I would see myself living in New York City. I would be graduating from NYU, and starring in a Broadway Musical. I see myself planning to move to California to get my big break. I see myself in love. It may sound much and it might sound crazy, I just can’t see myself doing anything else. I was born to be onstage and it’s what I’ve always wanted to do. Maybe even marry a One Direction member.. who knows?!

This year has flown by so much, I don’t want it to end, although I will never forget one of the best years of my life.

  10. Over this past school year, I've learned a lot of things that I'm positive will help me throughout my life, some of them playing only a small part and others being useful everyday. Weather these lessons being relevant to school or not doesn't matter, but I can say this year has taught me where I stand with grades, friends, and family. I know my spot now and the only people I have to thank for that are my teachers this year. I think that I've improved maybe not as much as my mom would like, but a lot on my grades this year.

6th grade was tough and coming into 7th I was hesitant because of the year before but as I eased into it, things became better. I think that people say that 7th grade is tough because people are kind of trying to find their place and you might lose some people that you care about, but then again everyone's different and this year might have been better for some more than other. I remember walking into homeroom the first day and not exactly knowing what to expect. Looking at some of the teachers I had, I wasn't so sure how the year was going to go for me but overtime I realized that things would be okay.

I have no clue where I'm going to be at in ten years because even though we'd all like to say that we'll grow up to have good jobs, families, and just overall successful lives, that's simply not the case. The harsh reality of school is that not everyone can be successful, and not everyone necessarily cares as much as others. Plus, where would we be if everyone was extremely successful? I'm mean sure when I was smaller I had that "American dream" you could say I wanted the whole package or whatever you'd like but as I grew I realized things don't always work out and you have to except things that way. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to work my hardest until I can't feel my hands but,but the fact of the matter is, things are going to go wrong and depending on the person, it will make them, or break them. Now my dream job is to do something beyond myself, like maybe being a social worker, or therapist, or maybe even a teacher. All I know is I want to help people. And the way I grew up, it only seems natural, but then again who knows what will happen down the road. Things could change, dreams could change. One thing I can say for sure is that I've gotten through 7th grade, and though its sad that another year has gone and passed, its also nice because I'm that much closer to my "mysterious future" so thank you Ms. Domohowski, I'll always reflect off this year.

  11. 1. Something that I learned this year is the three column notes. If I didn't know about the three column notes I wouldn't be so successful when it came to writing and the MCAS. So thank you Ms.Domohowski!

    2. When it was the first day of school I thought that my friends would forget all about me. Well some of them did but there was two friends that remembered me and were the first ones to come up to me. I was scared because I didn’t want to be in different homerooms but we weren’t(THANK GOD!) Then throughout the school year I have made many new friends and I am proud of that.

    3. If I were to look into the future ten years from now I would probably want to see myself as either a singer or an actress. Since I was a little girl I've always wanted to be famous and meet other celebrities and make a difference such as forming charities to help others. That's who I want to be ten years from now(hopefully.)

  12. 1) I improved on my writing skills. I got better at doing the three column notes and writing the response. The notes help me write better. It helped me understand the important things that happened when I had to look back.
    2) I got more confidence in writing. In the beginnings I didn't really know how to write a open response. After practicing it, it became easier to write it. I became more responsible asking Ms.Kotlyar what my grade was and how to improve.
    3) I will be in fashion design and in New York City working for Vouge. I will be putting all the fashion outfits together including accessories. It will be for the magazines and photo shoots. I hope to be meeting lots of different models wearing the clothes that I put together. I will be living in a huge condo with my pet dog and cat. My view from my condo will be overlooking Central Park.

  13. During my seventh grade experience I have learned a lot of things. But one thing that stands out the most and was the most helpful was how to write open responses and long comps. You started to teach how to do them at the begging of the year. Going over and over three column notes again and again. Lucky we didn't do the long comp that much. Because that was long and boring. Thankfully though all that work did pay off. During MCAS I used the techniques you taught us. They really did help.

When I first came to seventh grade I was a quiet kid. That was because I was all through sixth grade. But around halfway through the year I completely opened up. I'm not so sure if that's a good thing though. I do get told to quiet down sometimes when I talking to my friends. That never once happened last year. But I am glade I have decided to talk more freely now. It has helped me to speak out loud to the class.

Ten years from now it will be 2023 and I will be 22 or 23 depending on the month. I can't tell you where I will be but I can tell you were I'd like to be. I see myself in the year 2023 in collage going for my doctorate in whatever scientific field I think suits be best. I'm thinking engineering or physics. If I'm not in collage though I would like to be in Mojang working for Minecraft. I would love to work for them so I could help create my favorite game. Maybe I'll be doing both. Going to collage so I can work for them. Where ever I am though I hope I still remember this fast pace, fun year.

  14. NIAH IS AMAZING AND IS THE GREATJune 13, 2013 at 6:13 PM

1.I have learned to do open responses better. Also I have learned to write better.
2.From the first day of school I was scared because i didn’t know any of my teacher’s. I changed by having a better personality, attitude, and shyness.
3.In 10 years from now I see myself living in a nice house in California. Yes, I did graduate from college. For a job I will be a nurse. A goal that I want to achieve is to go to Hawaii and see all the Niah’s in the ocean. (Cause my name means Dolphin in Hawaii).

  15. I have learned so much this year. Not just academically but, also I learned a lot about myself. At the Charter School I learned how to express myself and I gained so much more confidence. Not just about myself but also in my school work. It’s sad that I can never go back to the school I love. But, I will never forget the memories I made walking through those halls or the amazing friends and adults I met but I am also thankful that it shut down because if it didn’t i would've never met all my new friends here at O’Maley.

    1. In the past few months that I have been here at O’Maley I think I mostly Improved on open responses on the MCAS.
    2. Since September I have grown up a lot, made a couple new friends, and learned not only how to deal with heartbreak well but to move on from it quickly.

    3. In 10 years i will be 24 and i see myself being a young fresh new face that just graduated from Berklee School Of Music and is trying to venture out on my own. I see myself packing up all my stuff with my friends and moving to Los Angeles with them so i can try to find some kind of career in music or dance. Also just to have some adventure with my friends. A few years after that i hope to be living in a nice big house on the beach and already have won a few Grammy’s!!!!

  16. 1.) This year I have improved in open responses in many ways. For example, I learned how to do 3 column notes and I learned Flip-Flop topic, circle substitute. These helped me on MCAS to write much better open responses. Also, I learned how to find the meaning of a poem by reading it once. Then you find figurative language and finally you find the meaning on the third time reading the poem. This is how I have improved over the year.
2.) This year I have gained more confidence in writing. I have always been scared of MCAS but thanks to learning about how to write open responses better and the Uncle Jimmy method I am more confident on MCAS than I ever have been. This is how I have changed since the beginning of the school year.
3.) 10 years from now I will be getting out of the engineering department at Boston College. I will be drafted into the MLB to play for the Arizona Diamondbacks (the Red Sox will have a later pick). I will be the starting center fielder who will win rookie of the year and bat over .400 like Ted Williams used to. This is where I will be in 10 years.

  17. This year has been a great year! I think I changed so much, I created more friend groups, advanced in my writing skills and learned an intense amount of new things! I am going to miss 7th grade!
I think I improved upon my organization skills in writing paragraphs. My wonderful ELA teacher taught me a great tool for the future, Three Column notes! I used to look at my paper not knowingwhere or when to put my information but now I do! When we were writing our 5 paragraph essay I was nervous, I didn’t think I could put everything in place and make it flow, but with the help of Bing, Bang, Bongo my essay came out good! With these helpful writing tools I am confident that I will be ready for future writing tasks.
I changed so much throughout 7th grade. Mostly with my realationships. I have made a bunch of new friends that are my best friends now. I have kind of fizzed away from another realationship. I also think I became smarter! I was really scared for 7th grade because, I thought it was going to be soo hard but it wasnt! It was actually really fun! Overall, I can say myself that I've changed a whole lot.
Thinking about 10 years from now kind of scares me, I honesty have no idea on what I want to pursue as a job in my life. I do know that I want to graduate college! I picture myself living In a busy city like New York or Boston! I haven't thought of the future yet, I know I should but I like to let things go with the flow. Everything happens for a reason. I do know that I want to travel the world. I want to do a job that includes traveling. I want to site see and be amazed in the world I'm living in. I've grown up in gloucester my whole like and haven't really been anywhere out of the country. In 10 years from now I will be able to take a journey around the world with my friends of course! This year has been so great! I'm really going to miss it! I imagines 7th grade being so hard and boring but it wasnt! I had great teachers that I will miss next year!

  19. Part 1: Something that I learned this year was a-lot of new vocabulary. One thing that I think I improved on this year is my writing. Doing blog posts and open responses really helped me this year to improve my writing.

Part 2: I have changed in a-lot of ways this year, but the really big one is being more responsible. Last year I used to forget something almost every day, like my lunch box, or my pencil case, or even the keys to my locker. But now I am not like that. Now I remember my lunch box, pencil case, and my keys.

    Part 3: I see my self in ten years getting married,having kids,getting a house,getting a job,and going to collage.

  20. 1.) Something I learn this year was, how take better notes and how to do open responds.Next, i learned how to do make good pitchers with good poetry, and write better for MCAS .
2.) I changed more than last year because I use better worlds when I'm taking to someone, now ,than I did last year and I'm more serious and take care of my things better.
3.) I'm seeing my self in 10 years finishing from collage and I'll thank my best teacher ever ms.Domohowski for everything

  21. What was something you learned this year or something you feel you've improved upon?: This year I learned about personification. Ive improved on my writing.

Most of you wandered into school last September not knowing what to expect from your new teachers. Over these past few months you have grown immensely. How have you changed since that first day? (More confidence? More responsible? Different friends? etc.)?: since the first day I'm more mature than I used to be.

Which direction do you choose? Flash forward ten years from now, where do you see yourself? Did you graduate college? Do you have a job? What are your aspirations? I'm in collage learning about cosmetology.

  22. 1: I feel as though I've learned a lot this year from transition words to how to write a good open response, but one thing I have learned that is the most useful was the hook on an open response or in a story.

2: I have changed a bit since when I first walked into the school. I've been more studios and paid attention this year my grades have gone up and I started to hang with different friends.

3: In ten years i see my self graduated college with my degree on my wall working for M.I.T's robotic design making robots that play ball and do work for us this is what I've wanted to do for a long time and I'll think back to this day and thank miss Domohowski.

  23. 1.Something I feel I’ve definitely improved upon this year is writing my open responses.I feel like I can more accurately answer and respond to a question.I also have noticed that I can answer a question with more detail without writing have to say too much.I also feel familiar with a lot of more different ways to set up and organize an open response.Furthermore,I feel a lot more comfortable with different ways to answer certain types of questions.Lastly,I am a lot more confident in my ability to answer open response questions, short answers, and long essay questions

2.I have definitely changed a lot since the beginning of the year.I have definitely become so much more confident in myself and my work since the beginning of the year.I have become immensely more responsible because I figured out how to balance my schedule between being able to go and stuff with my friends and still be able to get all of my school work at the same time.
3.In 10 years I see myself just getting out of the historical department at Boston university.I see myself traveling across the country going everywhere I want to visit before I actully settle dow and start a life.I will be researching the ancient egyptians and the ancient romans and I will be living in the beatiful state of Colorado.

  24. 1) From this year in ELA I have learned an abundance amount of things. The one thing that I think I have improved upon is the open responses because I didn’t really know how to write. From learning how to write them I think that I have done a better job on my MCAS. Also I will do better in 8th grade because I will know how to do an open response and plus I already have learned skills to help me with the open responses. The three column notes are very helpful because I actually know what to write for the open responses before I had no idea what to write in the open responses.
    2) I have changed not a lot but I have changed a little bit. I have become more responsible because I have had a huge amount of homework and I have had to take more things home so I know that I have everything I need. From out of and in school I have had a busy social life I am out more and at the lunch tables I have made new friends from last year. From making new friends it has helped me in school because I know more people for next year so I won’t get nervous or not talk for being in class with people I don’t know.
    3) Ten years from now I see myself still being in college trying to become a veterinarian. I would like to go to Tufts University where they have good classes for learning how to become a veterinarian. I also see myself living in an apartment and I don’t know if I will have a husband or not by then because my parents want me out of school before I get married so I can focus on school. I also think after college gets over for me I will come back to Gloucester and I will live where my own family can grow up just like I did.

  25. First of all, something very important that I learned this year in 7th grade was how to write great open responses. This skill is important because it can affect your grades either in a good or bad way. For example, if you have no idea how to write one, especially on E.L.A MCAS, you most likely won’t do that well. I also feel I have improved on reading in front of the class. When I first got to this school, I was kind of nervous to go in front of the class and present my projects, but now I feel I can go in front of everyone like nothing. This is important because reading in front of crowds is used in almost everyday life.
Secondly, I think I have become a lot more responsible than the first day of my 7th grade year. I feel I am a lot more responsible because going to class I am almost always prepared with a pencil and my binder ready to work. In the beginning of the school year, here and there, I would keep forgetting my pencil or paper and I would have to ask my friends if I could borrow some of theirs. I also think I have become more confident in making more friends and asking questions.
Lastly, 10 years from now, I can picture myself having a little apartment in California. I would still be in college, training to be a physical therapist to help people recover from bad injuries. In college, I will be working on getting my masters degree to have a successful career.

  27. 1) This year I have improved on alot of different things.Probably my biggest improvement is writing open responses I felt so confident on this years ELA MCAS and I will confident on many mcases to come.I have also improved on my use of transition words and try to use them as much possible.

2)I have changed a lot since I walked through the doors in September.I have learned to use the time management skill wisely and have really improved in all of my classes but my biggest improvement was in Math.During this year I have met many new friends.

3)In 10 years from now I see myself finishing college and getting a good job.I also see myself having a nice boat and fishing for tuna in it for many, many years.I will still live in Gloucester and I will keep my boat in Gloucester as well.

  28. 1) Something I’ve learned this school year is how to write an awesome open response. Before this year I was never really sure on how to write an open response. I always just winged it every time when we had the ELA MCAS. Now I know exactly how to write one that’ll get me a four every time. Since we’ve worked on that so much it has really helped me out and I feel like I’ve improved tremendously on writing them. I would say that’s probably the biggest thing I’ve this year.

    2) Since the first day of school I’ve changed in so many ways. The people I hang out with, how organized I am, and how I act are all things that have changed about me since September. Out of all of the things that have changed about me I think the biggest thing is my confidence in presenting. At the beginning of the year I got so nervous whenever I had to go up and present something to the class. Now I’m a lot more confident and don’t have a problem at all most of the times I need to present a project. Once in awhile I’ll still get those nervous feelings because I’m thinking about it too much, but once I get up there I calm right down. This is a huge change for the better for me because talking in front of a group of people is important life skill.

    3) If I was to look ahead 10 years from now I honestly have no clue of what I’d be doing or where I would be. For the longest time I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to do and that was to be a vet. Now I’m not really sure if that’s what I want anymore. All I’m really sure of is that I want to be graduated from college in 10 years. I also don’t see myself living in Gloucester. It’s just so small here and I would like to experience life somewhere else but I’m not sure where that somewhere else will be.

  29. From the beginning of this year, to now, I think I have improved on my writing. When I'd write before, I would put a lot of words and I think I learned to reduce words in a sentence. I also learned more transition words and better ways to start and end sentences. I am now better and more confident in writing.

I have changed a lot from the beginning of the school year. I got to say, I was really scared having a new teacher that no one else had. And the first day, didn't make it better. The lights were out, I didnt know you or any of the other teachers. I was petrified. But, you were way better than I expected.

10 years from now, I dont really know where I will be. I know I will be in college trying my hardest in all the classes. But, the thing is I dont know what college I will go to, and what job I will do. I just hope it is good. I hope I will do good and achieve goals.

I will miss you next year! :( Why do you have to go?!

  30. 1. Something I've improved upon this school year is my understanding of fables, myths, legends, folk tales, etc. I also learned how to start and write an open response and a long composition. I always used to get confused when it came to poetic devices and poetry but now I know more about them and it helped me a lot!

    2. Over this year, I feel as though i have grown more responsible and I have become more brave. I also feel confident about my work. I met so many new people that I talk to and spend some of my time with. I feel as if I have grown to be more mature in the things I do.

    3. Ten years from now, I see myself graduating from college and becoming a third grade math teacher. All my teachers this year have inspired me to become a teacher. I think it will feel amazing being able to teach children new things. I’d be very happy staying in the beautiful city of Gloucester for my whole life and getting married.

    1. This year I improved upon many things. One thing I improved greatly upon was writing Open Responses. I used to always get 3's and rarely 4's but now I get a lot of 4's.

    2. I have changed A LOT this year. I have met a bunch of new friends and I have matured a lot. I have become a lot smarter and more whimsical.

    3. In 10 years I will be 23 years old and probably still be in college. I'm still not sure what I will be studying in college but I know I'll go. I will have a small job to earn some extra money for food and other whimsical things. My aspirations are to be successful and live a happy and whimsical life.

  32. One thing I have improved upon this year is my open response writing. I had absolutely no idea how to do that last year. I know exactly what to do, what do include, what to exclude, transition words, 3- column notes, and how to word it. I know exactly how to organize it and I think I did really well on MCAS. Thanks Miss Domohowski!

I have changed in so many ways throughout this year. I have more conviction in my answers, I have some new friends, and I feel more confident during writing prompts. I know exactly what to do when writing and I learned so much this year that I think I will do really well in 8th grade.

Ten years from now? Well, I imagine that I would graduate from Boadoin College in northern Maine and have a job. I would be a lawyer, teacher, interior designer, or chef. I would be living with my friends in an apartment in which we split the rent. I would have an awesome day everyday. By then I would be living in a dream, doing my dream job, living in a dream house, and be loving everyday.

I’m so grateful that you devoted your year to us. You taught me so much about not only ELA, but about life. And I could never thank you enough! :)

  33. This year I have improved on my vocabulary. Last year in 6th grade we didn’t practice many vocabulary words. This year when Ms. Domohowski acted out the words it helped me remember what they mean. I feel that I have improved on my vocabulary because this year I have learned a lot of new words. I also improved on my open responses. Ms. Domohowski taught us an easy technique called three column notes. The three column notes helped me improve my open responses and will help me throughout the years.

On the first day of school I was scared because I didn’t know what to expect. I only knew a few people in my homeroom and a couple of people in my classes. Now I have changed because I know everyone in my homeroom and I’m not scared. Also I got all of my classes switched because they put me in the wrong math class. When they switched all of my classes I knew more people. I’ve gotten less shy and I’m not scared anymore. I have more confidence too. As we got further and further through the year I have gained more confidence to read in front of the class.

10 years from now I see myself graduated from college and living in Hawaii or California. I want to move to Hawaii or California because I want to live in a place in the United States where it is warm all the time. I also want to move to Hawaii because I would like to see all of the dolphins in the water. I want to go to the beautiful beaches in California. I also want to go to one of those states because I want to learn how to surf.

  34. One thing I think I have improved on is the ELA MCAS. Last school year I felt like I didn’t understand the MCAS . Thanks to you Miss Domohowski, I have not only learned to understand ELA MCAS, but to score high on it too. I think what I have learned throughout this year will help me through many years to come. I feel like I am more confident in my writing now than I was at the beginning of the year. I learned to pace my assignments better during the school year. If I look forward 10 years I see myself graduating from MIT and getting a job in Oceanic engineering. I may be studying for my masters too.

  35. I’m so excited! Summer’s pretty much here, school’s over at the end of this week. It’s so weird to think about because it feels like we have only been in school for a month. Where has the time gone? It’s so exciting that summer’s here and we won’t go back to school until the fall (not that I don’t love seeing you everyday!). But, then I think about it, and I won’t have all my wonderful teachers (especially you) next year and I’ll be on a totally different floor with different people in all my classes. It’s very depressing! :(

I’ve learned many marvellous new things this year. For instance, I learned how to write an open response, I’ve learned tons of new words like transition words and new vocabulary words, I’ve learned what an anecdote is, I’ve learned how to answer a multiple choice question (how to eliminate choices), I’ve learned how amazing awesome my ELA teacher is and a lot more things.

I’ve matured a ton since the beginning of 7th grade! Before 7t grade, I never interacted or talked to anyone besides my friends because I didn’t like meeting new people. Then, I realized it was time to start talking to other people, not that I don’t love my friends but I wanted to get to know other people and to see what other people were like. I met several new friends and got to know numerous people I had never really talked to before. I know I definitely have more confidence than I never had. I am more responsible than I was back in September. Honestly, the first day of school I went home and wanted to go to a different school. For about a few weeks I didn’t want to go to school at all. 7th grade had been so much different than 6th grade. I didn’t know anybody in my home room and I only knew a few people in my classes. I finally got the nerve to start talking to people because I knew that I wouldn’t get very far in life if I didn't interact with others. Now, I know everyone in my home room and all my classes.

I don’t really have any idea where I will be or where I will even want to be in 10 years. I know I will be graduating from college and looking for my dream job, the job that I don’t know what it will be yet but I know I will love it!
Schools ending and summers in our shoes. I don’t want to leave 7th grade, but I have many memories from it, I will never forget the awesome year of 7th grade! I definitely won’t forget my teachers, especially Ms.Domohowski! I know what’s his face won't be in my school any more but when I see him around town, who am I suppose to tell? You will be in Cali living the life and I know there will be no teacher that will listen to me talk and talk and talk everyday. Going to miss 7th grade. Going to miss you :( The award for the most wonderful, amazing, pretty, intelligent, most awesomest teacher ever goes to... MS.DOMOHOWSKI!!!!!!! Have fun in California :)

  36. 1)in the past year I have learned allot but what I think I've most improved on is writing open response questions.
    2) I think what has changed about me in the last year is not caring what people think about what I where, say or do (as seen in my snogy days.
    3) in ten years I see my self still living in Gloucester working as a mechanic\welder

  37. 1) Something I learned this year was personification. I now know that personification means giving human qualities to something not human. This is going to help me a lot in my writing in the future.

    2) I think that this year I am more responsible. Last year I feel I was a little lazy but this year I changed so much and feel like I am responsible. I also feel like I am more honest this year. I was very honest last year but I feel I am much more honest this year.

    3) In ten years I feel like I will be touring Egypt and trying to learn more about its fantastic history. I feel like I will also be married to Carl Grimes from my favorite TV show. I will have three kids which are going to be two baby girls and a baby boy. The baby girls are going to be named Sophie and Katy and the baby boy is going to be named Sam. My job will be a social studies teacher and I will work at a school in California.

  38. This year I think that I learned several types of poems, and many poetic devices. I have learned about oral traditions, and have improved my writing skills. I believe that my improved writing skills really helped me in writing my open responses, and my long composition.

Over the past few months I have met new people, made new friendships, and become closer with my old friends. I have gained more confidence, and learned many new things. I am definitely not the same person that I was at the beginning of this school year.

Ten years from now I see myself as a graduate from college. I want to have a well-paid job that I enjoy, and if my job happens to take me to new places in the world, I welcome that, and will walk into those places with open arms, because I only have one life, and I want to live life to the fullest.

  39. I feel imensely there is so much I didn't know before that I know now thanks to Miss Domohowski! For example, parts of speech before this year I didn't really know all of the Parts of speech that well. Secondly, now i know how to make 3 column notes write amazing open responses and interesting/grasping long comps. Also, I really have learned a lot more about fables, folktales, legends, epic, and myths! Lastly, this year I feel like i really improved on the MCAS. This is just a small portion of the tremendous amount I have learned this year in ELA!

When I walked into each new classroom with a new teacher i was pleasantly surprised because they were all awesome especially Ms. Domohowski Maybe it isn't noticable but i feel I have become more mature from the beggining of the school year. Made some new friend. I feel like I'm not as shy too.

10 years from now seems so long but before I know it I'll be walking up the steps receiving my diploma from college. Later, getting my dream job(whatever that may be) and moving into an apartment with my 2 or 3 best friends somewhere warm hopefully California or Somewhere down South(somewhere warm). Then later traveling the world with friends and family. After that hopefully get married to someone amazing!

By the way Miss Domohowski I'm gonna miss you :`(
